Waste management industryPaul is a leading practitioner in the waste management sector with CEO experience in a listed waste management company. Operational experience encompasses landfill, high temperature incineration, recycling of construction waste and tyres and integrated medical waste management systems. Drawing on this experience, he provides advice to governments on strategy, competition, policy and technology selection and procurement in the waste management sector.
As General Manager of the successful EIDN industry initiative, Paul worked extensively across the environment management industry in Australia building comprehensive networks and a deep understanding of the markets for the various sectors of the industry. Paul specialises in analysis of markets in the industry, the drivers for those markets and positioning strategies for companies seeking to increase their national and international competitiveness.
With a background in project engineering, contract management and construction estimating, Paul has highly developed project management and procurement skills that are applied to our projects and assignments. He has led projects involving construction, mine rehabilitation, urban infrastructure and waste management.
For three years Paul was a General Manager at the University of Wollongong business development company ITC. He managed multiple business units involved in commercialising bulk materials handling technology, robotic and artificial vision systems, microwave processing technology and analytical laboratories. This followed many years in the mining industry where Paul was involved with applied research for mine safety equipment, tracking technology and mine plant simulators.
Paul has held senior management and operational positions in business that address technology and innovation, industry development, waste management, underground construction and mining.
He was President of the Waste Management Association of Australia for five years, President of the Underground Construction & Tunnelling Association and an inaugural Director of the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council.
Paul has a degree in Mining Engineering with first class honours and is a qualified member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).
